Beginning on 14 March 2011 The Prince Consort begins a five day residency at Aldeburgh Festival culminating in a recital in the Jubilee Hall on Friday 18 March. We'll be working on American songs by Musto, Heggie, Rorem, Copland, Bolcom, Barber and Jason McCoy, and the residency will include regular blog posts, podcasts and video coverage.

The Prince Consort has been named in The Observer's Best Classical Music of 2010, highlighting their world premiere of Stephen Hough's Herbstlieder at Oxford Lieder Festival in October.



10 October 2010
Stephen Hough has written a blog post in the Telegraph about his song-cycle "Herbstlieder" which we are premiering at Oxford Lieder Festival on 21 October at the Holywell Music Room. Pre-concert talk at 7pm with the concert at 8pm. The programme also includes Schumann Spanische Liebeslieder and songs by Quilter and Barber. Read Stephen's blog post here.

Our next recording with LINN Records will feature both sets of Brahms Liebeslieder and new cycle written specially for us by Stephen Hough called Other Love Songs. The recording will be released in June 2011 and special guests Philip Fowke and Stephen Hough will join Alisdair Hogarth at the piano. See our previous album, of Ned Rorem songs here

We have just performed two brand new songs by Stephen Hough at the 2010 Gramophone Awards at The Dorchester, where our fantastic record label LINN Records won Label of the Year! Congratulations LINN!

"The five singers are a vocally attractive lot and truly sensitive both to the texts and to the ways in which Rorem's music illuminates those texts", raves Raymond Tuttle; "These performances, cannily sequenced, are a model of how these songs should be sung". The Prince Consort's debut CD of the songs of Ned Rorem, 'On an Echoing Road' is now available in the shops and for download (www.linnrecords.com). Ned Rorem wrote to the group "Dear friends, your performances alone and together are in every way ideal. The recording is flawless. Thank you, thank you - NED ROREM."

It has just been confirmed that the Prince Consort will be giving the official European premiere of Ned Rorem's masterpiece song cycle 'Evidence of things not seen' at the 2009 Oxford Lieder Festival to coincide with their CD and DVD release of his songs.

The Prince Consort performs at the Young Singers' Welfare Foundation launch concert and are joined by their patron Sir Thomas Allen, as well as Rosemary Joshua, Donald Maxwell and Lillian Watson. The evening raised over 8000 for this great cause and we're really pleased to have been involved. Thanks to all those that supported the event!
